RECRUITMENT and SELECTION

Organizational results are often rooted on the quality of the human resources resident in the organization. While training and development can improve them, the key lies in the initial quality of human resources introduced into the organization. Selection of employees can be a process distorted by bias, perception and incompetence. Organizations, jobs and people change, and there is a constant need to ensure “proper fit”. In all of this, we see as vital, the need to improve the ability of the organisation to ensure its success through having the right people in the right place.

CAREER MANAGEMENT

Organisational success is often dependent on the effective development and utilisation of Human Resources. This requires that the organization put in place critical systems and structures and that individuals take responsibility for their career planning. At the organisational level, utilising Human Resources must take place within the broad framework of the strategic direction and objectives linked to individual career goals and plans. Our approach to Career Management provides an integrated set of interventions and processes which ensure organisational success while meeting individual needs.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

While often seen as only the annual appraisal, performance management takes a holistic view of the process through which organizations ensure the achievement of results. This includes defining performance standards, identifying and diagnosing performance discrepancies and reducing performance gaps. The behaviours required in an organization have to be consistent with the organisation’s values and vision and must be clearly defined and understood by all. The system for ensuring this level of performance must be well designed, implemented and utilized. Superior performance is what successful organizations are all about.

TRAINING and DEVELOPMENT

Organisations today need to be or to become "learning organisations". One approach to achieving this is to ensure that within the organization, there are sufficient numbers of persons with the competence to train others. Critical to the effective use of Training as an organisational development tool, is an understanding if the entire training process, from needs assessment, through design and delivery to impact evaluation. With extensive experience in this area, we offer to build organisational competence in this area through:

  • Training Needs Assessment
  • "Train the Trainer" Skillshops
  • Developing a Learning Culture

BEHAVIOURAL STYLE ANALYSIS

Individuals typically go through life exhibiting their preferred behavioural styles. They are often unaware of their style as the source of many of the successes and failures they experience. This intervention allows participants to come face to face with all aspects of their style and the way it affects others. Styles examined may include entrepreneurial, leadership, creative and conflict-management style. The issues of identifying the styles of others, situation-specific style-shifting for improved effectiveness, and styles in stressful conditions also receive detailed attention.

SALES and MARKETING

Today's businesses exist in a dynamic and evolving context and the sales and marketing functions in any enterprise must anticipate and respond to this. High-efficiency selling is as much an attitude as it is a strategy. We aim to bring organisations to the realization that sales and marketing is the life-blood of the firm's existence. Customers are changing, competitors are different and options available to customers are more numerous. In this context, packaging, positioning and a sales attitude must be accompanied by critical selling skills.

WORKFORCE DIVERSITY

As cross-cultural contacts increase through globalization and strategic alliances, as work-force demographics change and the need for teamwork increases, diversity and its management move up on the organisational agenda. Our approach sensitizes people to their own diversity 'issues' and 'concerns', works with them towards valuing the differences that people bring to the organisation and mobilizes the value created through diversity towards energizing organisational success. Diversity activities seek to impact individuals at the attitudinal and behavioural levels and organisations at the output and results level.

OUTPLACEMENT SERVICES

One major reality of today's competitive environment is that organisations may have to reduce their complement of Human Resources. We work with clients to establish the most effective rationale and process for doing this. We consider issues of communication, the prior relationship of the organisation to the employees and the impact of the initiative on the clients, customers, suppliers, departing employees and the surviving employees. Our support services address the psychological, employment and financial aspects of outplacement and can be undertaken at the individual or group level. Ultimately, we work to ensure that there is a sound business decision that is executed professionally and in the best interests of organization and employees.

SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS
"SELF Inc.":

The concepts and principles of management are easily applied to organisations. This intervention challenges participants to see themselves as organisations and to take up the challenge of managing themselves. Participants are challenged to grasp personal responsibility for their future, create a vision / mission and to conduct a personal performance audit of all aspects of their lives. Out of this, they visually explore the extent of (im)balance with which they function and then generate individualized action-plans for personal change and improved effectiveness.
